Evaluating Pedestrian Level of Service (PLOS) at Road Segments Using Numerical Rating and Fuzzy Sets

Abstract

Providing facilities for pedestrian is vital for efficient transportation system as they are integral part of it. Each facility is designed for certain level of service. Different quantitative and qualitative methods are used to evaluate them. This paper describes fuzzy set theory application to evaluate importance of factors that affect the pedestrian level of service (PLOS) and satisfaction levels of factors. Pedestrian level of service Index (PLOSI) is defined and applied to evaluate pedestrian level of service along the road segments.
