Abstract

This paper focused on the effect of the stator slotting technique and bread loaf magnet structure on the performance of the permanent magnet machine. For the purpose of the study, a fractional slot number of 24 stator slots and 18 poles has been selected. The permanent magnet machines studied in the paper are inner rotor type with radially flux distribution. The permanent magnet machines of three different structures were analyzed based on numerical, and their performance result was compared. It has been focused on surveying the distribution of the magnetic flux in the air gap of the machines studied.  The analysis result of permanent magnet machines studied was approved by employing the software of finite element method magnetics. The cogging torque ratio of three permanent magnet machines was presented in the paper. Using the software of finite element method magnetics based on FEMM 4.2, it has been found that the structure of three dummy slotting in stator core combined with bread loaf, could reduce the peak of cogging torque significantly of the proposed permanent magnet machine, around 98 % constrated with the original structure. It could be stated that the combining of dummy slotting in stator core and bread loaf magnet can upgrade the performance of the permanent magnet machine proposed
