Abstract

A novel compact miniaturized circular ring Fractal patch antenna with Defected ground structure (DGS) is proposed and investigated for wideband applications. FR4 substrate having permitivity of εr=4.4 with dimensions 50mm x 42mm x 1.6mm is used in proposed antenna.Operating frequency range of 2.4 GHz to 20 GHz with impedance bandwith of 157.14% for the proposed patch antenna using DGS. The gain and percentage of impedance bandwidth is much superior than  recently mentioned wide band antennas which makes suitable for various wireless applications like Wi-Fi, Wi Max , X band, Ku Band and partial Ka band. The performance of the antenna is analyzed with many parametric optimization studies, field and current distributions. Good matching is obtained between simulated and fabricated measured results.
