Abstract

The rapid increase in urbanization has resulted to high demand of modern road networks that connects various cities to enable the flow of goods and services across the cities. Today, about 98% of road networks are oversaturated due to inappropriate path selection methods, limitations in the number of road networks, high number of vehicles demanding the use of the limited roads and emergency services. To cut down the level of roads oversaturation, an efficient path selection method is highly required. This paper proposed a path selection method that considers the traffic on every path, path delay due to congestion, path failure to select a path between cities for multiple users. Software Defined Networking (SDN) Environment is used to simulate the proposed method. Results of the proposed method significantly reduce the level of road saturation.
