Abstract

A tourist attraction is anything that has a uniqueness, beauty, and value in the form of diversity of natural wealth, culture, and man-made products that are the target or destination of tourist visits. Kampung Bekelir (Bekelir village), located in Babakan District, Tangerang City, won the 2018 Indonesian Enchantment Award event initiated by the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia for the Most Popular Creative Tourism category. Kampung Bekelir is one example of community-based tourism in Indonesia. Many previous studies in tourism apply research models that are mainly based on other previous studies but are not developed based on research that leads to certain research objects. Thus, this study fills the gap by aiming to identify the factors that influence the intention of tourists visiting Bekelir Village in Tangerang City based on exploratory studies. Then, based on the results of exploration, this study will propose a research model that shows the relationship between variables that affect visiting intentions. The results of this exploratory study show that the five main factors that encourage tourists to visit are unique attributes, instagramable, easy access to locations, recommendations, and available culinary. This study addresses these five factors and proposes a research model. Limitations of the study were also conveyed.
