Abstract

As 3D printing process spreads wide and affordable, more problems of failures arise. One cause of failure
is the lack of software setting in which related to printing preferences. Several experiments already
conducted to observe the relationship between layer thickness and product strength. But less of them discuss
the connection between the layer thickness and other printing preferences completely. Most of the
preferences observed in separate analysis. An integrated and thorough observation believed will produce
complete understanding of printing result in both technical and economic aspects. This paper exposes the
result of preliminary experiments from 2 years of researches sequence that will be conducted to obtain
integrated result and understanding about the printing preferences and its effect in technically and
economically manner. This paper briefly analyzed the effect of printing preference to product strength and
quality. The analysis result suggests that the printing preferences highly affected the product’s performance
in technical and economic aspects. This result will bring to conduct further research with deeper and detail
printing properties involved.
