MEMS Based Heavy Metal: Lead Ion Detection in Laminar Flow of Water
Abstract
The paper proposes a comparative study of various MEMS-based micro-cantilever structures coated
with an active layer for heavy metal ions detection. Different structures were designed and the
structures were graded based on the displacement in the presence of target ion pressure under the
same temperature condition. The paper also proposes a comparative study of the laminar flow of water
through different structural designs. The laminar flow characteristics of water are essential to finding
the max and min velocity positions and also max and min pressure positions. Inlet flow rates are varied
and the outlet flow rate, max and min velocity positions, max and min pressure positions and outlet
flow pressures are measured. Different structures were designed and the structures were graded based
on the outlet flow rate and outlet pressure in variation with the inlet flow velocity. The different
structures for heavy metal Lead ion detection and laminar flow analysis of water are designed and
finite element analysis is performed using COMSOL multiphysics 5.4
