Scientometric Study of Literature output on Euthanasia from 2015-2019

Abstract

Euthanasia: A health practitioner is allowed by law to give up someone’s existence by way of a
painless method, so long as the affected person and their circle of relatives agree. Year-wise growth
of literature output on Euthanasia research, there are 2789 articles are published by 14615 authors,
Single authors have contributed 457 research articles and collaborative authors has contributed
2332 research articles. Authors published 2625(94.12%) research articles in the English Language,
50 (1.79%) research articles published in German, 29(1.03%) articles published in the Spanish
language. The degree of collaboration is 0.832 reveals the collaborative author's contributions are
dominant than single-author contributions. The mean collaborative Index is found to be 6.056. The
mean relative growth rate was 0.475 and the mean doubling time 1.859. Application of Bradford’s
law on euthanasia research shows in zone one has 72 Journals with 915 articles, in zone two has
351 Journals with 977 articles, and in Third zones 897 Journals with 897 articles. The United States
of America has contributed 698(25.02%) research articles occupy the rank one, Brazil has
contributed 318(11.40%) occupy the 2nd rank, Canada has contributed 185(6.63%) research
articles occupy the 3rd rank, India has contributed 30(1.08%) research articles occupy the 15th
rank. Indian research contributions on Euthanasia are far behind in comparison with the United
States of America and Brazil, it is necessary that Indian researchers have to be encouraged to
contribute more research work on Euthanasia.
