Abstract

India is the second populous country in the world having a population of around 1.2 billion
people. It’s a matter of concern as India’s population is incrementing at a fast rate. If the population keeps
on increasing at this rates then there’s going to be serious consequences about food. The agriculture sector
today is suffering due to poor yielding of crops because of a lack of rain and poor irrigation system. This
paper intends to present an automated irrigation system thereby saving time, money and power of
farmers. The traditional irrigation techniques like drip irrigation, moat irrigation, and sprinkler irrigation
require manual intervention. Also, there’s a lot of water wastage in this. With automated irrigation,
human intervention can be reduced. It can sense any change in their surroundings like temperature,
humidity or moisture of the surroundings and gives an interrupt signal to the microcontroller.
