Abstract

Cloud computing is one of the latest technology which renders cloud services on the internet by
permitting the organizations and individuals to use the software that are handled by cloud service
provider in a cost-effective manner. Generally in Cloud infrastructure, user’s information will be
saved in the form of cipher text and in turn cloud also provides various web based services but
sometimes unauthorized persons are getting access to the user’s information. So, efficient security
and privacy mechanisms are required to protect the user’s information. Various researchers have
suggested cryptographic methods (i.e. the public key and symmetric key) for achieving security in the
cloud still these methods are having limitations regarding privacy, confidentiality, integrity,
availability and execution speed of encryption and decryption process in the cloud. So our primary
objective of this paper is to achieve better data security in the cloud using hybrid RSA-AES technique
which combines RSA & AES and for optimizing the execution speed of encryption and decryption
process, we proposed Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) where our work has been on Google
Cloud platform. Experimental results also show that our proposed technique is efficient for
optimizing execution speed of encryption and decryption process by comparing with existing
cryptographic methods.
