Indonesian Audiovisual Learning Material Enriched by Javanese Culture for Foreigner

Abstract

Foreign students come to Indonesia without any language preparation. Indonesian is one of necessary language in ASEAN as communicative tool now. Shock culture often happens when foreigner get difficulties to adapt living in Indonesia. This research and development purposes to develop speaking and listening material which is enriched by Javanese culture. It is very important to help foreigner increasing communicative competence and local culture understanding. The novelty of this research is local culture contented in audiovisual learning material. Javanese local culture is represented by culture of Banyumas, Surakarta with Keraton culture, and Semarang with coastal culture. The trial learning material shows that listening ability increases 11%. The foreign students can boost self-confidence 8%, asking and answer competence 10% and local culture knowledge 15%.
