Abstract

Hospital surgical services face important problems such as tool identification and
information integration. The purpose of this study is to design improvement of surgery
services using business process re-engineering (BPR) approach and relational database
information system to improve service process time and reduce the risk of neglect by
doctors and nurses. Information systems design in this study is carried out in two stages
that are construct the entity relationship diagram (ERD), and data flow diagram (DFD).
This study provides six scenario options for hospital surgery service. Each scenario
produces different service times. The scenario consists of three classifications of
solutions: parallel, information systems and RFID technology. This research also
analyzes combination scenario from those classifications.
