Improvement in accuracy analysis using Distributed Generators

Abstract

DG power distribution is supposed to at least partially improve the loss of the DG power distribution
system as a backup generation by optimizing the possibility of power interruption to customers due to
the loss of utility generators. Since DG units may fail as well as all other generation units, the random
behavior of these units must be considered in the analysis, and the presence of DG units in the
distribution system affects the recovery time of the load points. In this paper, we propose an algorithm
to evaluate the restoration time of the load point of a radial distribution system with a backup DG
unit. A simple distributed load-flow method for solving the radial distribution network by placing the
DG is used and compared with the base case. The position of the DGs is achieved based on the lowest
voltage value corresponding at a specific load point. The sensitivity analysis is performed on a test
system to examine the effects of the DG unit, its position and their loss accuracy index.
