Abstract

Ever since arrival of the 4th Generation LTE networks, the researchers across the globe started
working over a new, 5th generation of networks. A network which unlike the previous networks was
not designed only to deliver human centric need of high peak rates, but also connectivity needs of
machines. In this article we go through the landscape of 5G, where we establish the very need of 5G.
We analyse technologies like Harmonization and network slicing which are quintessential for 5G
operation. We also analyse the advancements in the URLLC, 5G as a network for machines and
finally we identify the key applications of intelligent connectivity along with an industrial insight to its
implementation.
