Abstract

“Programming is a fundamental course” which should be given to every engineering stream in their
starting of the semester. The introductory courses are used for the scholars to learn the basic
concepts and model of the computer. Apart from these pros, scholars are taught many advanced
programming concepts during their complete course. Therefore, for teaching purpose the choice of
programming language is important for engineer students. During the past years, some programming
languages like “COBOL”, “FORTAN”, “ALGOL”, “MIRANDA”, “ADA” etc had no use in future.
On the other side several new programming languages are introduced with advanced concepts. For
teaching, the choice of programming language has always remained a“important research question”
as a academics. In this paper, the comparison and analysis of various “programming languages” is
made. The most basic languages based on current scenario and market demand are compared and
analyzed in this paper. The target of this paper is what should be taught to the engineer students at
their initial stage of the semester.
