Abstract

Distributed Generation system challenges to minimize losses and at the same time maintains adequate
voltage profiles in a radial distribution system. Deregulation helps in improving the economic
efficiency of the production and use of produced energy in the form of electricity. Distributed
generation (DG) is a popular area of research because of continuously increasing demand of
electrical energy. Voltage profile improvement is considered as a significant constrictionwhile
working on the issue of finding the optimal placement of DG. DGeffectually reduces thepower losses
and improves the voltage profile in Radial Distribution Networks (RDN). An optimization technique is
required to find the optimally place the DG units with appropriate size for increasing load conditions.
A hybrid optimization technique HGAST has been proposed and analyzed to improve the voltage
profile of the RDN. The main idea of the proposed method is to utilize the best of Genetic Algorithm
and State transition optimization methods to effectively find the improved optimization results.
