A Study on Awareness of E – Governance and its Impact on Ease of Doing Business

Abstract

Due to the rapid rise of the internet and digitization, governments all over the world are initiating steps to involve IT in all governmental processes in order to serve its citizens, so is government of India. This change in external environment can affect business processes. World Bank published ease of doing business index which gives an aggregate figure that includes different parameters through which one can define any country’s or state’s easy of doing business. Ease of doing business depends on various factors and e-governance is one of them. E-governance is a mode of communication and information technology through which government provides services. It is the medium through which government exchange information, transactions and integration of services which already exists. Ease of doing business and e-governance have different dimensions and parameters that impact each other in some other way. Therefore, it is important to find out the factors that impact ease of doing business.  This study aims to understand how e-governance impact ease of doing business in India. Many research works have been conducted related to ease of doing business on an international level however this study is novel as it is based on Indian states.
