Cost Reduction by Using Dynamic Economic Load Dispatch for Microgrid

Abstract

For lowering the cost of microgrid system, dynamic economic dispatch is used which coordinate
between different distribution generators (DG’s). It is very important to lower the operation cost of
microgrid and decrease the pollutant cost. In this work spinning reserve constraints are used with the
system which reduces the fluctuation due to load variation. Microgrid is working in modes of
operation as grid connected mode and island mode with different strategies. All strategy has different
scheduling with different connection. GAMS software is used to implement the combined microgrid
and modeling is done for dynamic economic dispatch. GAMS’ interfacing is done with MATLAB to
take the results. Main grid is working when microgrid works in grid connected mode and grid battery
operate in island mode. It helps to improve the system reliability with full use of renewable energy
resources.
