Indoor Localization Techniques: A Review

Abstract

Indoor localization frameworks are extremely well known. The indoor localization techniques
are useful in various applications like inventory management, fire rescue operations in a
building as well-known techniques named as GPS does not well in indoors.In this paper a
concept range based and range free algorithms, techniques and metrics are discussed in the
indoor environment In this three different techniques namely proximity/closeness, scene
investigation and triangulation are discussed. As one of the well-known techniques i.e. finger
printing method in recent systems extensively as it is used in many systems. Then we examined
various properties on evaluating the algorithms and using these evaluation schemes for the
survey of existing systems. Another parameter namely accuracy, position error, etc. are also
discussed for comparing the performance of recent algorithms.
