An Insight into Free Space Optical Communication

Abstract

Free Space Optical (FSO) communication is an advanced version of communication system, widely
researched by a number of renowned scientists and innovatively developed by a number of corporates
in various parts of the globe, mainly in Europe and America. This type of communication system has a
number of shortcomings due to which constant research and developments are going in this field to
eradicate them. In this paper, the work done by various researches in the past in this field has been
presented in a summarized form, so as to facilitate the future research in this area. Channel
Modeling, Modulation techniques used and Hybrid FSO/RF are the main topics presented here.
