Review of Hydro Power Generation With Its Modeling and Challenges

Abstract

As generation of electricity is developing through many years with the help of many resources like
conventional and non-conventional energy sources. Out of them hydro power is one of the most
widely used source for the generation of electricity. Hydro power plants play major role for the
production of electricity. Hydro power plant has now grows into the best source of electricity on this
planet. It generates electricity with help of falling water or moving water. Hydro power plants utilize
water as a fuel for the generation of electricity. Many of the countries have adopted this source for the
generation of electricity. It has advantages of its being as green energy and it is easily available on
the earth. Because earth contains large area with water. So hydro power plants have high efficiency
because of low losses and low maintenance. It also protects from global warming. This paper
introduces hydro power plant with its types and challenges for the generation of electricity. It also
deals with different types of models of hydro power plant and focused on operating modes
