Static Fluid Concept Inventory (SFCI): A Gender Gap Analysis using Rasch Model to Promote a Diagnostic Test Instrument on Students’ Conception
Abstract
The aim of this study is promoting a diagnostic test instrument to assess students’
conceptions on Static Fluid concepts. The Static Fluid Concept Inventory (SFCI) has been
developed using ADDIE method which has five comprehensive steps which are analysing,
designing, developing, implementing and evaluating. The respondents of this research
involved 23 senior high school students which come from different schools (13 male
students namely akang, 10 female students namely teteh) and they are mainly 17 years
old. The SFCI consist of 15 items which has four tiers on each item. In the analysis phase,
students’ response was scrutinized based on the students’ conception categories, scores,
an evaluated using Rasch analysis. The data analysis including person reliability, item
reliability, and validity of FCCI. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that FCCI
was reliable and valid to be implemented to assess students’ conception on fluid static
although there are some items that need to be slightly revised.
