Contribution of 21st Century Skills to Work Readiness in Industry 4.0

Abstract

Vocational High Schools (SMK) provide the highest unemployment rate in Indonesia. Industry 4.0 requires the existence of life and career skills, learning and innovation skills, information media and technology skills (21st Century Skills) needed by the workforce and the industrial world. This study aimed to determine the effect of 21st Century Skills on work readiness of vocational students in Industry 4.0. The populations in this study were students of the State Vocational School,Lamongan Regency, East Java, Indonesia, with 1764 students with a sample of 326 with proportional random sampling technique. This research approach was quantitative with descriptive statistical analysis and multiple regression analysis. The study used a questionnaire method to collect data. The results showed that there was an effect of 21st Century Skills variable consisting of life and career skills, learning and innovation skills, information media and technology skills on the work readiness of vocational students in Industry 4.0 in a simultaneous and partial way.
