Abstract

In this study, the metamaterial inspired Multi Input and Multi Output antennas are realised with EBG (Electromagnetic band gap) structures with FSS (Frequency Selective Surface). The proposed antennas structure comprises of two radiating square shaped elements in the patch with a defected ground structure and both are placed over 2 different Electromagnetic band gap structures. Fabrication of this proposed antenna is carried on cost effective  FR-4 substrates with a 4.4 dielectric value and having a thickness of 1.6mm. The antenna dimensions are 22mm×36mm. The simulation and measurement values show a -10dB bandwidth in the resonating bands, where the electromagnetic band structure reduce the coupling effects of E-plane. Due to this formation a total impedance bandwidth of -15 dB was attained. Peak gain of the antennas with two different EBG structures are 7.01 dB and 7.50dB, radiation efficiency of both antennas is varied from 76%- 89% correspondingly. The reflection coefficient of both the antennas works at 2.1 GHz and 6 GHzrespectively. This antenna was analysed by their behaviour with the help of channel loss and Envelope correlation coefficient. The antenna was fabricated on FR4 substrate. The performance of simulated and measurement values are observed.
