Work Engagement and Turnover Intention: The Moderating Role of Perceived Supervisor Support and Perceived Organizational Support
Abstract
This investigation aims to test the moderating impact of perceived organizational support
(PSS) and perceived organizational support (POS) in the relationship between work engagement
and turnover intention. A one-time was applied and a sample of 360 questionnaires was
distributed among academicians in the top 3 universities in north-central Nigeria and PLS-SEM
to examine the assumptions. The outcomes confirmed PSS buffer the consequence of work
engagement on high turnover intention while POS did not. So, a longitudinal survey is needed to
confirm the consequent results. Forthcoming surveys should seek to include all universities and
other tertiary institutions in all the regions in Nigeria. The present research presents validation
for the intervening influence of POS/PSS on the link between work engagement and turnover
intention in Nigeria. This research article offers theoretical support and a managerial
foundation for future researchers because studies on buffering effects on individual outcomes are
lacking in Nigeria
