Role of Occupational Self-Efficacy of the Relationships Among Perceived Employability, Turnover Intention and Employee’s Task Performance
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of perceived employability on employee’s
task performance under conditions of occupational self-efficacy. This study also explored the
mediating influence of employee’s turnover intention on the relationship between perceived
employability and task performance. The targeted population for this research was the project
managers, the team leads and the developers working in the information technology sector of
Pakistan. Self-administered questionnaires were distributed to the IT professionals for data
collection. The study analyses the relationships among perceived employability, turnover intention,
occupational self-efficacy and task performance. The occupational self-efficacy has a positive
influence on perceived employability and task performance, perceived employability and turnover
intention and turnover intention to task performance relationships. The study also signifies that the
direct effect of occupational self-efficacy on perceived employability to task performance is greater
than the indirect effect of occupational self-efficacy on perceived employability to task
performance through turnover intention.
