Effects of Smartphone-Based Mobile Learning in Higher Education: A Systematic Review in the Context Of Pakistan

Abstract

The systematic review was carried out to analyze the effect of smartphone-based
mobile learning in higher education institutions of Pakistan. Smartphones continuous
technology enhancement, price flexibility, and portability have made smartphones one of
the powerful tools for mobile learning. Since 2010, the number of students having
smartphones has drastically increased. To analyze the history and changes in Mobile
Learning based on a smartphone, a holistic, systematic review, and literature by using
PRISMA framework was carried out. The review was mainly focused on smartphonebased mobile learning in Pakistan. Based on PRISMA inclusion and exclusion criteria, a
set of 155 articles was selected from three databases Elsevier, Springer Nature, and
Taylors. The studies indicate that the majority of studies have been carried out in the past
five years were mainly focused on smartphone-based M-learning in Pakistan, and the
papers continue to grow by 2018. Furthermore, the article also provides future
researchers with areas in mobile learning
