A Cryptography Technique and Transform Domain Based Secure and Robust Video Steganography

Abstract

 Steganography is the art or science for embedding a secret message in multimedia for security applications. Digital video is one of multimedia data the be used as a cover for embedding a secret message. Due to the characteristics of the digital video, which has a high storage, there is a good chance for embedding a confidential data in it. In Steganography applications, the researchers don’t take into account the robustness of the embedded message. Most of Steganography schemes focused on the security. They think that the attacker just tries to discover the embedded secret message (the attacker behaves as a passive attack). Suppose that Alice embedded a secret message in the digital video and sent the stego video to Bob. Later, if the attacker suspects that there is a secret message with in the sent stego video, he tries to discover it. If he cannot discover the message, he tries to distort the stego video in order to prevent the receiving a secret message by Bob (the attacker behaves as an active attacker). So, if the secret message doesn’t robust enough, it will be distorted. Accordingly, the scheme of Steganography must fulfil the robustness, security and imperceptibility requirements of the secret message. In this paper, a Steganography scheme is proposed for hiding a secret message in the video. The proposed scheme fulfilled the above three requirements. The security requirement is fulfilled by embedding the secret message in the chosen blocks in the frames of the video depending on the secret key. In addition, the secret message is encrypted by using chaotic encryption before embedding operation. The robustness requirement is fulfilled by embedding the secret message in the frequency domain after applying Lifting Wavelet Transform (LWT) domain. This domain is robust against several attacks. In addition, according to the PSNR values, the imperceptibility is fulfilled in the proposed scheme. According to the experimental results, the proposed scheme fulfilled the two requirements.
