HR-D Today for a Successful Tomorrow

Abstract

Indian HR, with respect to the Non-IT and ITES sectors today is in a state of flux and needs a major makeover if it has to attract global talent. With lucrative pay scales and attractive incentives, the best HR talents are being smuggled into the services sector, leaving the primary industry in a lurch. With this trend in place, HR may face a severe setback in the years to come and could affect the overall Human Resource Talent available in the country. As avenues for growth and development of individuals working in these sectors dry up, the next generation will find it difficult to identify achievers, more so at a global level. What factors stop the management from giving an equal importance to Development? Why is it that organizations suffer from Myopia about the importance of development? As the workplace of today becomes more comprehensive and covers greater domains-both geographically and otherwise, and fierce competition makes the term ‘rat-race’ redundant, the employee of tomorrow will have to strive and achieve to remain two steps ahead. As individuals pass through the phases to ENTER-SURVIVE-SUCCEED-GROW, in their respective roles and capacities, how efficiently they are able to do it depends on the foundations of today.
