Abstract

Cataloging, classification, organizing, issuing and collection of books is a cumbersome work which is time consuming and requires a lot of effort from a librarian. The proposed system is an integration of microcontroller-based RFID technology and Reinstating system. RFID technology has garnered a wide acceptance in many automation environments due to its numerous advantages. Reinstating system is a microcontroller-based autonomous robot which returns books to their former positions and it helps to reduce the work load in classification and organizing. The proposed system enhances the functioning of a library by reducing the human labor required to perform the tedious operations by increasing the transaction speed, accuracy and efficiency and thus enabling the librarian to pay more attention to user-service oriented tasks.

Keywords: Autonomous Robot, Cataloging, Microcontroller, Reinstating system, RFID technology, Transaction speed.
