Abstract

This paper presents the findings of a study, which investigated on how the perception of organizational commitment and employee engagement played an important role in employees' satisfaction to the hospitality organization in the Northern region of Malaysia. Also, the paper reveals some knowledge on the consequences of employees’ satisfaction towards the level of their turnover intention. The sample consisted of 108 employees from middle and lower level from the hotels sector. The results hypothesized that both organizational commitment and employee engagement perceptions are positively related to employees’ satisfaction; and job satisfaction is negatively related to turnover intention. Between both of the determinants of job satisfaction, employee engagement appeared to be the most significant predictor. Also, employees’ satisfaction made significant contributions to their level of turnover intention. Several actions to be taken by the hotel management is suggested at the end of this paper.
