Abstract

Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology provides options to facilitate automatic identification and manage information using radio waves. It provides solutions to problems related to logistics/urban infrastructure management. Nevertheless, some of the serious challenges with RFID: i. collecting tag information, ii. RFID reader collisions and iii. security. Recently, authors have found solutions to address the issues in RFID. The exponential growth of technology requires more efficient solutions for RFID to handle such large amount of data. In order to process complex data, fuzzy logic is used to process vague data and produce better outcome. This paper aims to propose a method to optimize RFID network with the support of fuzzy logic. The study focusses on the issues in collecting tag information and reader collisions. An experiment was carried out on the real-time environment with 120 RFID tags. The performance of the proposed method was satisfactory comparing to an existing optimizing algorithm.
