An Evaluation on The Implementation of International General Certificate in Secondary Education (IGCSE) Curriculum towards International Assessment Benchmark

Abstract

The primary aim of this study is to evaluate the attributes of IGCSE curriculum in comparative to International Assessment benchmark. IGCSE is selected among IB (International Baccalaureate), Edexcel and other curriculum due to its preference and widely executed in International schools in Malaysia.  Specifically, the study seeks to (1) identify the aims and objectives of Cambridge IGCSE implementation in secondary School, (2) identify syllabus, resources, support system and training in the implementation of IGCSE, (3) determine the programme performance and monitoring and instructional practices employed in the implementation of Cambridge IGCSE, and (4) determine the actual outcome of Cambridge IGCSE programme in Private Secondary School examination. The final results conclude that IGCSE is an active System Theory which adapt improvement due to global changes. Data was gathered from document analysis and interview. The implementation of IGCSE into secondary education is recommended to replenish the national programme for the performance towards international benchmark.
