Development of Communication Skills using Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) Included with the 3Rs Teaching Principles for Autistic Children at Special Education Center, Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Nakhon Nayok Province

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study the communication skills of autistic children Special Education Center, Mahachakri Sirindhorn, Nakhon Nayok Province after learning management by using Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) included with the 3Rs teaching principles. The samples were 3 autistic children age 3-5 years which was select by purposive sampling. The tools used to research the learning management plan using PECS included with the 3Rs teaching principal were communication skills evaluation form for autistic children and the communication ability record forms. The statistics used in the research were percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test. The results showed that communication skills of autistic children after studied by Picture Exchange Communication (PECS) included with the 3Rs teaching principal were higher than before studied at statistically significant at the level of 0.05
