Abstract

This study aims to: (1) develop an ESP materials development model for the ICT students in Uzbekistan, and (2) design appropriate learning materials for the ICT students in Uzbekistan. This study was research and development design adapting the models of development proposed by Borg and Gall (1983) and Jolly and Bolitho (1998). The ESP learning materials development was carried out through several steps namely identification of the needs, exploration of needs, planning, develop preliminary form of product, production of the materials, main product revision, main field testing, revision of product, students’ use of product, expert judgment and final product revision. The researcher made some modification, while following the adapted development models based on the data obtained through expert judgment to evaluate the appropriateness of the learning materials. This study involved 28 second grade students of ICT in Uzbekistan. The data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results show that the ESP materials development model, adapting and modifying the model of Borg and Gall (1983) and Jolly and Bolitho (1998) development models was appropriate for the ICT students in Uzbekistan. The researcher expected researchers to conduct similar research and development in order to improve the quality of supplementary ESP learning materials for the students, particular ICT field students.
