Considerations for the Design of a Budget Automotive Service Shed

Abstract

Optimal design of structures is rarely considered in construction as more focus is on functionality despite their critical role in the structural integrity, comfort and energy efficiency. It is likewise important for structural engineers to have decent information on connection pattern, theoretical and hypothetical demonstrating of connections, physical geometry and parts of associations which are all considered in this exploration. In this light this paper attempts to analyse the design and construction of a shed with steel roof truss through material optimization and consideration of mechanical properties like rigidity, weight, failure due to upstream load as well as cost. The loading bearing capacity was estimated using deflection, shear resistance and bending resistance.
