A STUDY ON WORK LIFE BALANCE OF COLLEGE TEACHERS IN PRE AND POST SEMESTER SYSTEM WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO SELECTED COLLEGES IN TRIVANDRUM DISTRICT

Abstract

ducation sector plays an important role for the development of the society. Now a day’s education
sector brings various reforms and innovations from the primary level to the tertiary level in order to
improve the quality of education. One of such reform is the removal of annual system and the
introduction of semester system. After the implementation of semester system in 2008 it leads to increase
in the work load and stress of the teaching fraternity. Work life balance is one of the most common issues
in the education sector. So this research paper aims to analyses the work life balance of teaching
fraternity by comparing annual and semester system. 150 samples were collected from Trivandrum
district through convenient sampling. Anova, correlation and percentage analysis were used as statistical
tools. Findings of the study indicate that teachers can effectively manage their work life balance in
annual system compared to semester system.
