Agricultural Marketing using Farmer Producer Organizations (FPO) Model

Abstract

The Agriculture and allied sector is the prime sector in India as source of food. India is one of top agri-based economies in world but fragmented smallholdings of farmers raising some serious concerns. These concerns call major structural & transformational initiatives towards the revitalization of Indian agriculture both, by way of stepping up investments for productivity enhancement as also reforms in agri-marketing & post-harvest agri-logistics for boosting agricultural growth. Farmer Producer Organizations (FPO) has been considered as one of the way to overcome agricultural marketing challenges faced by the small and marginal farmers. This study attempts to study the FPOs model & it may provide the base for further study like Issues & Policy Reforms required.
