Abstract

Aims: Study the division of stem of Left coronary artery and Coronary artery disease by angiographic
method in Western Maharashtra.
Objectives:
1. Study the division of stem of Left coronary artery
2. Study the coronary artery diseases.
3. To compare the result of division of stem of Left coronary artery in males and females.
4. To compare the results of present study with past studies.
Method: The division of stem of Left coronary artery and Coronary artery disease were studied in
patients who underwent angiography for suspected coronary artery disease or for coronary
intervention.
Result: Out of 365 patients’ angiographs studied, In 283(78.08%) angiographs the LMCA was
bifurcated into LAD & LCx. In 77(20.82) patient’s angiographs the LMCA Trifurcated and branches
were diagonal artery between LAD & LCx. In 4(1.09%) patients quadrifurcation with two diagonal
artery between LAD & LCx .This study showed the coronary disease was more common in males
130(67.35%)than females. Among 365 patients CAD was observed in 192(52.60%) cases (SVD was
most prevalent in 69(18.89%) cases followed by TVD in 65(17.80%) and DVD in 57(15.61%) cases.)
Method: The division of stem of the Left coronary artery & Coronary artery diseases were studied in
patients who underwent angiography for suspected coronary artery disease or for coronary
intervention.
Conclusion: This study done on division of stem of the Left coronary artery in Western Maharashtra
population will helpful in Heart surgery like angioplasty, Stent placement and even by-pass surgery.
