Developing Environmental Awareness and Actualizing Complete Piety Based on Quran

Abstract

Islam appears to mankind to bring universal guidance, comprising of all aspects, spaces, and time, henceforth called rahmatan lil ‘alamin and salih likulli zaman wa makan. Islam guides and appreciates every social changes, technology, and environment that yield prosperity for humans by continuously and primarily precluding mafsadat. The gap between the noble teachings of Islam as the mercy of universe remains a serious concern. The separation between the text and context of the holy book is one of the many factors indicating negative traits of people against the nature.  For this reason, it is of paramount importance to integrate eco-socioreligious to actualize the universality of Islamic teachings for the sake of preserving the sustainable ecosystem as the caliph responsibility of mankind on Earth. To actualize this, there is a need to reexamine the primary texts of Islam grounded in relevant epistemology. Qur’an and Sunnah lead mankind to actualize the advancement of ecofriendly technologies. Technological manipulation and environmental preservation ought to be integrated under the guidance of Islamic principles, so that not only does it manifest as a merely ritual doctrine but also functionally immerges. Islam is expected to firmly stand in guiding the civilization friendly towards all aspects, spaces and changing realities of time and society.
