Advanced Information and Computational Technology
for Biomedical Researches

December 10 ~ 12, 2009, International Convention Center Jeju, Jeju Island, Korea
in conjunction with BSBT 2009

In our aging society, new and advanced tools for biomedical researches and clinical services are needed. Innovations from Information Technology have accelerated the progress of developing biomedical tools in the new era of personalized medicine. For example, integrated software platforms for genomics and proteomics research in accelerating the complicated discovery activity of new drugs or new diagnosis biomarkers, miniature device for personal medicine in home care, are all developed by integrating expertise from various fields, especially from human biology and IT. This session is focus on how IT is applied to the development of biomedical researches and clinical service. New and advanced tools should help our aging society in sustaining our humanity at the same time. And, the importance of new tools depends on if the new technology can be used in developing new products which will help create a higher quality of life for our aging society. Focuses of beneficial applications should full-filled the needs of our aging society.

Furthermore, technology with focuses in self-empowerment processes in managing personal health is especially important for maintaining the cost of medical care in developing country. Patient-centered clinical service with the assistance of IT is important in reducing expense and errors. By providing researchers with data creation, data management, and analysis tools it will facilitate the discovery of next generation of disease diagnostics and therapeutics. Therefore, we have proposed a special session to provide an opportunity for scientists to demonstrate their innovative IT tools and applications in biomedical researches and clinical services.
